        The Importance of Carb Restriction

        This is a simple guideline. Avoid starch and sugar, both of which are carbs. The most dangerous carbs during this phase are those that fill up your liver storage capacity to quickly (i.e., starch and sugar).                   In this phase, more regular food is added back into the diet while still avoiding sugars and starches for 3 weeks. Small amounts of dairy, fats, oils and nuts are introduced. Avoid extra sweet foods like bananas and mangoes in this phase.

                    Remember you can move your fruits and Melba toast around.  For example, eat one fruit for breakfast if that makes life easier for you.  Eat your second fruit as an afternoon snack or for a mid-evening snack.  The same applies to the Melba toast and Grissini breadsticks.  Use them as mid-morning and afternoon snacks if you wish instead of eating them with meals.

                    If you are not craving sweets, try a healthy veggie snack to get you through.  Slice a tomato or cucumber with a little seasoning.  It will keep you on target and have only a small impact on your weight loss (if any at all.)
                    If boredom is your problem, once in a while substitute a scrambled or hard-boiled egg for your protein.
                    In summary, keep the sweets out of the house and turn to fruits and veggies if you absolutely must cheat on the HCG Diet.

                    Next, realize that cheating (no matter how minor it may seem) will leave its effects on your weight for three days!  That means you will stall and/or gain for three days after you cheat!  Consider how that will affect you emotionally.  Imagine the guilt you will carry for quite some time after.  Is it really worth it?
